Well done Gerry, excellent event, well organised and demonstrated that South Wales is THE venue for big events. As for Dragonmaster Paul, must be the first (and probably only) time I have heard him called a 'jobsworth'!!!!!!!! Am still laughing at it now xx

Yeah, but Paul, you're everyone's hero now.

You know why.

Gerry,

As you know I spent most of the day after racing on the licence/number control and was overwhelmed by the positive comments coming from the competitors and in particular the professionals.

It was a realo buzz to see our Welsh competitors staying on and marshalling or helping out whereever needed.

You should be proud mate and it was a priviledge to be part of it.

Chapeau!

I'd like to express my thanks to everyone who helped out at yesterday's event. The day was a huge success and this is entirely due to the efforts put in by everyone. The feedback from riders, police, the mayor, spectators, press, TV ... etc has been unanimously positive.

I was pleased that in his interview on the podium Bradley Wiggins acknowledged the role performed by marshals etc, many of whom, as he said, had been out on the road for over six hours. That was a nice touch.

Formal thanks will follow in due course, but for now please accept my gratitude here for what was a polished and highly professional job.

Many thanks,

Gerry

Free Track Coaching Session at Newport Velodrome

British Cycling coaching and education periodically require riders to participate in free coaching sessions as part of our Level 3 Certificate in Coaching Track Cycling.

We require riders at Wales National Velodrome, Newport International Sport Village, Velodrome Way, Newport, South Wales, NP19 4PT. Those who attend should have a good technical ability and bike handling skills and recent track racing experience. The minimum age for riders is 15 years old (riders under 18 years old will need a parental consent form). The sessions will involve activities to develop tactical performance and group riding.

The sessions are free (although places are limited) and generally run from 9am till 1pm. British Cycling provide lunch and refreshments for the riders.

This is a fantastic opportunity to meet other riders and new developing coaches. You may also pick up some advice on how to improve your performance!

The next free session will be on Sunday 5th September 2010

For further information or to book a place, please contact:

I was wondering whether anybody knew what the date of the WCA meal might be this year (if there is one?) Is it usually the last weekend in October? I thought I would ask because the National Hill Climb is that weekend on the Sunday and isn't too far away from south wales.

Paul,

as they made a comeback for the 100, there's still hope. It wouldn't be difficult to work out who is in which age band, so let's hope it will still happen.

With the publication of the 10 mile championship start sheet the Vets Age Band Awards are missing..

I lay no blame at Pontypool RCC's door as it is almost certain they were not informed to include them.

Topic : 2010 WCA 100

I have been away for few days so I am a bit late with my thanks and appologies.

Appologies to every one that there was no where to change prior to the event. I had tried for the whole week to get access to the hall but failed. I did not know that the bird sale was taking place on that Sunday again, but it was pointed out to me quite plainly that the sale takes place on that Sunday every year!

So, I hope the competitors had a good day and were happy with their times. Once again a competition record has gone at this event. Last year it was the womans record and this time the Mens. Appologies to Alan for posting an incorrect time (I have corrected it, it was a long day.)

I must thank my helpers, Julia & Marilyn for the food and the effort they made to keep my spirits up. Robin, Glenda & John for timing and Alf, Keith, Paul, Tom, Mike, John Edwin & Shelagh for the great job of marshaling the event. Its a thankless job but one that is agreat aid to the riders. I hope to see you all and your friends at next years event.

Thanks

Dave Brice

Topic : After the Welsh 100 mile Championship

After the Welsh 100 mile Championship on Sunday we are going to have tea at the Bungalow, at Llanfair KIlgeddin (on the Chainbridge circuit) provided that the weather is suitable for sitting in Jean’s garden.

We would be delighted if any of our “old” friends were able to join us and as we’ve just celebrated our Silver Wedding Anniversary the tea and cakes are on us!

We hope to see you there

Edwin and Shelagh
